Activities of the College at a glance (2007-2008)

N. S. Soti Law College started its academic year 2007-08 with a total strength of 600 plus from 15th June 2007. As per the tradition of the college, Prin. V. T. Chougule delivered the “Opening Address” on 2nd July 2007 for the III, IV, V and F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y. LL.B. students. He addressed the Pre Law I and II students separ5ately on 3rd July 2007. In his opening address the principal welcomed the students and emphasized on discipline, hard work and bright career for the students.

 

1. “Freshers Welcome Party”

The senior students of S.Y. LL.B. / T.Y. LL.B. and II Pre Law to Vth Year New Course Organized a welcome party to welcome the New Comers of F.Y. LL. B. and 1st Pre Law.

2. Students Bar Association / Students Council

The college forms the Students Bar Association each comprising of 11 students nominated by the Principal. Mr. Amol Javale was elected as the President and Miss. Geetanjali Patil was elected as the Secretary. The Election for the post of Secretary of Students Council was held on 17th Aug. 2007 and Mr. Makarand Kale was elected as the Secretary of the Students Council. The inauguration of Students Bar Association and Students Council was held at the auspicious hands of Shri. N. M. Jamadar, Civil Judge, Jr. Dn. And J.M.F.C., Panhala on 8th September 2007.

3. “Vidhilikhit” – College Wallpaper

The college wallpaper ‘Vidhilikhit’ was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Shri. N. M. Jamadar, Civil Judge, Jr. Dn. And J.M.F.C., Panhala on 8th September 2007.

Drawings, articles, caricatures, poems etc. of the students were displayed on the wallpaper through out the year.
 

4. “Teachers Day”

Teachers day was celebrated on the 5th September, 2007 with great enthusiasm. Prin. V. T. Chougule was the Chief Guest and he was felicitated as a representative of teachers. The final year students engaged lectures in the college.

 
5. Guest Lectures
The college regularly throughout the year on various subjects organized Guest Lectures by eminent personalities. The Guest Lectures on the following topics benefited students.

1. “Coaching Guidance for UPSC / MPSE Examinations” –
By Unique Academy Shri. Vinayak Aundhakar was the resou8rce person.

2. A lecture on Job Opportunities and Training in the B. P. O. sector – Resource person Dr. Mrs. M. M. Bapat.

3. An inspiring lecture on ‘Kiran Bedi’ was delivered by – Miss. Manasi Bhosale, a student on G. A. College of Commerce, Sangli.

4. Adv. Amit Abhyankar delivered a lecture on ‘SEZ’.
 
6. Parents’ Meet
A parents meet was organized in the college. The parents expressed their views on the occasion.
 
7. Law Day
26th Nov. is celebrated as the “Law Day.” The Constitution of India was adopted on this auspicious day. As part of the Law Day celebrationb, the college organized a Legal Literacy Camp at Ankali, Tal – Miraj, Dist. – Sangli
 
8. Workshops / Seminars organized by the College –

A two day workshop for Industrial Labour on Labour Laws was organized by the college in the last week of March 2008.









A one day workshop, specially for women, was organised on 31-3-2008 on the topic – ‘Laws relating to women’
A grant of Rs. 80,000/- was received from National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, for the same.  
 
9. Lead College Activities –
As a part of the Lead College Activity, our college organized a Legal Quiz Competition. The winner team was Shahaji Law College, Kolhapur.

A lecture on ‘How to face the examination’ was delivered by Dr. Rega Surya Rao, Principal, Law College, Phaltan.
A Table Tennis Competition was organized by the college. Y. C. Law College, Karad was the winner.  
 
10. Traditional Day
Traditional Day was celebrated on 1st January, 2008. A Blood Donation Camp was organized on this occasion.
 
11. Adv. K. B. Kayastha VIII State Level Moot Court Competition –

Adv. K. B. Kayastha State Level Moot Court Competition was organized on 9th February, 2008. As many as 15 leading colleges across the state of Maharashtra and Goa participated in the State Level Competition. N. S. Soti Law College, Sangli ended up as winners where as B. V.s New Law College, Sangli ended up as runners.


 
12. Academic Activities
The college so as to prepare the students for University Examination conducted preliminary Examination.
 
13. Population Day
An Debate and Essay Competition was held in the college on this occasion.
 
14. Legal Aid Programmes
Dedicated to the cause of “Legal Awareness and Legal Literacy”, the college organized 12 Legal Aid Camps at various villages in Sangli district. These include – Legal Aid Camps at Belenki, Karnal, Balwadi, Arag, Nandre, Ankali, Daflapur, Dhavali etc.

A grant of Rs. 80,000/- was received from National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, for the same.
 
15. National Science Day
A Quiz Competition wa held on the occasion of National Science Day in the college.
 
16. Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony
Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on Saturday, 23rd February 2008. Hon’ble Shri. P. S. Paranjape, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Sangli was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
 
17. Send off
A warm fare well was given to the students of T.Y. LL.B. and Vth Year New Course on 1st March 2008. Adv. V. K. More.
